Driverless trucks on California highways? Legislators don't trust the DMV to ensure safety
When Teslas are in self-driving mode, they've been recorded crossing into oncoming traffic and hitting parked cars. But what would happen if an 80,000-pound, 18-wheel driverless truck suddenly went off the rails? That's an experiment some California legislators aren't ready to run. They argue that the state Department of Motor Vehicles has so badly mishandled the driverless car industry that it can't be trusted to oversee big rigs barreling down the highways autonomously. AB 316 -- which would wrest control of driverless truck testing and deployment from the DMV and require human drivers in the cab for at least five years while a safety record is collected -- passed in the Assembly on Wednesday.

AI Drivers v/s Human Truck Drivers: Who will Win the On-Road Race?
The advancements in artificial intelligence, IoT, computer vision, and other advanced technologies are driving automation in multiple industries across the world. But there has been a concern regarding the replacement of human employees for AI smart functionalities. Thus, it has also affected the automobile industry, especially the community of human truck drivers. There have been some improvements from multiple self-driving truck companies that are launching autonomous trucks. Let's explore who will win the on-road race-- AI drivers or human truck drivers in 2022 and beyond.
Vivify Trucks - A Self Driving Trucks Company
Vivify Trucks will revolutionize the trucking industry by making trucks smarter, efficient and safer on roads. To achieve this we are developing a kit that can be installed on about any truck and will be able to control and drive the truck autonomously and perform operations with little or no assistance from driver. Our kit and technology would be designed to withstand and work in bad weather including strong winds, rain, snow and fog etc. We have been hard at work finding autonomous solutions to these common issues faced by truck companies and drivers. Human drivers will still retain override control of the vehicle, but the precision of our onboard artificial intelligence's driving makes trucks equipped with our kits much safer on the road than trucks with only conventional, human drivers.
